Irene Athanassakis
is a Professor of Immunology, in the Department of Biology, University of Crete. She obtained a Biochemistry degree (Maitrise en Biochimie) from the University Pierre Marie Curie, Paris 6 (1982) and her Ph.D in Immunology from the Medical School of the University of Alberta, Canada (1988). She moved at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in Heraklion, Crete as a post-doc (1988-1991). She was elected Assistant Professor (1991), Associate Professor (1997) and Full Professor (2007). She is an active member of the International Society of Immunology, International Society of Reproductive Immunology, European Society for Immunology of Reproduction, Hellenic Society of Endometriosis. She has published 126 papers and book reviews and has given 66 invited talks in International Meetings and has 166 abstracts in International and 62 in National congresses, while she holds one international and 3 national patents. She has supervised 12 Ph.D students and 31 MSc students in Immunology and 20 in Bioethics, while she has supervised 90 BSc theses. IA is an active reviewer for the American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, Journal of Reproductive Immunology, Cancer Research, Cancer Investigation, Journal of Biochemistry, Immunology, Leukocyte Biology, Placenta, Cellular and Molecular Biology Letters, ISRN Immunology, PLOS, Biofabrication, Nanotechnology, Reproduction, Fertility and Development, Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, Advances in Stem Cells, Biochimie, Ethnopharmacology, General surgery. Her research interests focus on: Mechanisms of the antigen presentation process, Soluble class II MHC molecules, Tolerance/Suppression Mechanisms, Leukemia, Implantable vaccines, Cancer vaccines, Fetal allograft protection, Sperm immunology, Pre-implantation embryo imaging, Pre-implantation embryo development.

Ioanna Zerva
is a post-doctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Immunology, Department of Biology, University of Crete. She obtained her degree in Biology from the School of Science and Engineering of the University of Crete, her Master’s degree in Protein Biotechnology and her Ph.D from the Department of Biology of the School of Science and Engineering of the University of Crete. Her research interests focus on the development of the personalized implantable vaccine technology. She has published 12 papers, has participated with oral presentations and posters in 16 congresses and holds 2 national patents. He has supervised 12 student’s theses. He has received honors and awards from the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS), European Congress of Immunology (ECI), Glasgow 2012, Vienna 2015, Amsterdam 2018, and 2021.

Ioannis Liapakis
, MD, PhD is a Plastic Surgeon. He graduated from the “University of Athens Medical School” in 1999. In 2004 he was awarded his first Phd Thesis from the “University of Crete Medical School” and in 2016 his second PhD Thesis from the “University of Thrace Medical School”. In 2008 he completed his specialisation in Plastic Surgery at “St Savvas” Anticancer Hospital of Athens and immediately after he obtained a “Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship” under the auspices of the “Dutch Association of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” in the Netherlands and Belgium. In 2009 he worked as a Plastic Surgeon at the “Centre Chirurgical Des Princes” in Paris, France collaborating with Dr Marchac. In 2010 he was awarded with the certificate of the “European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery” (EBOPRAS) at Bern, Switzerland and at 2014 became a member at the “International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery” (ISAPS). He is an active member of “LEAP/Surgical Relief Teams” which assembles humanitarian missions in all over the world. He is also Reviewer and member of the Editorial Board of “Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal” and “Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology”.
